STUDENT FUNDED PROJECTS
BELONGING AND INCLUSIVITY:
A SPACE FOR INTERNATIONAL AND
NEURODIVERGENT STUDENTS
IN HIGHER EDUCATION
Co-led by: Naveera Abhayawickrama (Law),
hvani Patil (Arts) & Youn Affejee (WMG)
This project examines the inclusivity and accessibility
of informal University spaces, such as sports societies
and social areas, for neurodivergent and international
students. Many of these students face barriers that
may limit their sense of belonging and participation.
The project aims to identify these challenges and
inform practical solutions to create more inclusive
environments in which all students can thrive.
DOCTORAL VALUES
Co-led by: Josh Davies (Chemistry) & Betty Fekade
(Life Sciences)
This project addresses the lack of a dedicated platform
for postgraduate research (PGR) students to share their
values and experiences across different disciplines.
The primary aim is to explore the values that shape
PGR students’ experiences at Warwick and to facilitate
a cross-disciplinary sharing process. Through this
process, the project is co-creating a set of ‘Doctoral
Values’ with students, which will be included in the
University’s PGR strategy to enhance representation
and support Warwick’s research culture.
UNDERSTANDING UNIVERSITY
STUDENTS’ PERCEPTIONS OF USING
AI TO ENHANCE STUDY SKILLS:
AN EXPLORATORY STUDY
Co-led by: Yanyan Liu (Applied Linguistics), Meifang
Zhuo (Applied Linguistics) & Gunisha Aggarwal
(Economics)
This project explores how University students access,
use, and perceive AI in their studies, a topic on
which understanding is currently limited. The aims
are to examine the accessibility, affordability, and
technical literacy of students regarding AI tools, and to
understand the specific academic activities for which
they use AI. By investigating student perspectives, the
project seeks to raise awareness of both opportunities
and barriers of AI, supporting its effective integration
into University teaching and learning.
