Warwick International Higher Education Academy Annual Report 2025
Reflections from
Lorenzo Frigerio
The WIHEA community continues to play a key role in advancing the
Education and Student Experience strategy. Its contributions to the
University’s educational agenda and thought leadership have been both
meaningful and impactful, helping to shape practice across the University.
It has been particularly encouraging to see WIHEA, ADC, and IATL working
in close partnership, strengthening existing relationships and supporting
the wider educational community. Initiatives such as the Education Fund
and the collaborative support for funded projects exemplify the power
of these connections in driving innovation and inclusive practice.
WIHEA’s 10th anniversary
offered a valuable
moment to reflect
on its achievements
over the past decade.
The community has
consistently brought
colleagues together
across disciplines and
roles, fostering a shared
sense of purpose and contributing to conversations
around parity of esteem. WIHEA’s continued success
depends entirely on the dedication of its Staff and
Student Fellows, whose energy and commitment ensure
that the community remains dynamic and responsive to
emerging challenges in education.
Looking ahead, WIHEA continues to be a significant
space for connection, innovation, and leadership in
education. WIHEA will continue to play a key role in
supporting implementation of education strategy
and enabling the development of new approaches to
teaching and learning. We warmly welcome the new
cohort of Staff and Student Fellows and look forward
to the continued evolution of this vibrant and inspiring
community.
Under Jess’s leadership, WIHEA’s reach has grown
impressively, with nearly 1,000 staff and students from
Warwick and beyond now part of the network. This
expansion has deepened engagement and broadened
WIHEA’s influence, enabling greater collaboration and
impact across the sector.
PRO-VICE CHANCELLOR (EDUCATION)
WIHEA remains a beacon for educational collaboration,
bringing colleagues together to share experiences,
ideas, and initiatives. The WIHEA–LITE Away Day in July
was a powerful example of this, with colleagues from
Leeds Institute for Teaching Excellence joining WIHEA
Learning Circle Leads to exchange practice and explore
new connections. This event highlighted the value of
cross-institutional dialogue and the potential for sectorwide impact. Earlier in the year, WIHEA also welcomed
Dr Nira Rahman from the University of Melbourne,
who spent a month with the WIHEA team, sharing her
expertise and forming new collaborations with the wider
community.
