WIHEA 10th Anniversary Celebration:
A Decade of
Engagement
and Excellence
In July 2025, WIHEA celebrated a remarkable milestone: ten years of fostering
collaboration and teaching excellence at Warwick. The anniversary event
brought together Fellows, Alumni, students, and colleagues on central
campus for an afternoon of reflection, celebration, and connection.
Guests enjoyed inspiring speeches from Professor Stuart
Croft, Vice-Chancellor, Professor Lorenzo Frigerio, Pro-Vice
Chancellor (Education), and Professor Rebecca Freeman,
Deputy Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education), highlighting
WIHEA’s impact on educational practice. Reflections from
past and present leaders, including founder Professor
Christina Hughes and past Directors Professor Gwen van
der Velden and Professor Leti Gramaglia, as well as our
current Director Jess Humphreys, traced the Academy’s
journey and evolution over the decade.

Fellows, Alumni and students shared their experiences,
with contributions from Professor Jane Bryan (Law),
Poonam Pedley (Flexible Online Learning), Dr Tom
Ritchie (Chemistry), Inca Hide-Wright (Graduate
Management Trainee), and Gunisha Aggarwal
(Economics) emphasising WIHEA’s enduring role in
shaping teaching and student engagement.

A highlight of the celebration was a visually striking
exhibition of 40 curated posters, showcasing WIHEA’s
mission, Learning Circles, projects, collaborations, and
key achievements. Guests connected over drinks and
canapés, revisiting the past, celebrating the present,
and looking ahead to the future.
The celebration captured the energy,
impact, and community spirit that
define WIHEA – a decade of
excellence, with many more to come.
